En mycket stor och pampig ljuskrona från den oskarianska eran. Tillverkad ca 1880 i Sverige med förgylld stomme och böhmisk kristall.

Den förgyllda stommens mittstång är beklädd av blåst ornamenterat glas. Från mittstångens övre del är det tre nivåer av mindre armar vilka håller girlanger av prismor. Längre ned i ljuskronans centrum är en stor förgylld glob. Globen är prydd med fint förgyllda bladverk. Ur globen finns det tre nivåer av armar. De minsta armarna, sex till antalet återfinns överst och håller sex stora kristallobelisker. Den mellersta raden armar också de sex till antalet är för levande ljus. Längst ned på globen sticker den sista raden armar ut, 18 till antalet och även de för levande ljus. Ljuskronan avslutas nedtill med ett förgyllt spjut där en facettslipad solid kristallkula hänger.

Den oskarianska eran kännetecknas av stor fantasirikedom och ett medvetet stilbrott mot gamla estetiska regler vilket i denna kronas fall leder till en uppsjö av olika prismformer. Några av de sorter som återfinns är pendeloquer, oktagoner, piggar samt wachtelprismor, till detta finns även olika typer av dropprismor. De mest spektakulära är dock de sex klockorna kompletta med bjällror allt gjort i glas.

En fantastisk ljuskrona gjord under den perioden i slutet av 1800-talet när Stockholm växte så det knakade och många av de byggnader som än idag pryder staden uppfördes. Ljuskronan vittnar om en tid i vår historia då borgerskapet på allvar tog över den politiska och ekonomiska makten i Sverige. Föremål som denna ljuskrona skapades för att manifestera detta välstånd på samma sätt som liknade ljuskronor skapades i det samtida belle epoque i Frankrike och gilded age i Amerika.

Ljuskronan har plats för 24 levande ljus samt är elektrifierad.

A very large and opulent chandelier from the Oscarian era. Made around 1880 in Sweden with gilded frame and Bohemian crystal.

The central bar of the gilded frame is clad in hand blown ornamented glass. From the top of the center pole are three tiers of smaller arms which hold garlands of prisms. Further down in the center of the chandelier is a large gilded globe. The globe is decorated with fine gilded foliage. From the globe there are three levels of arms. The smallest arms, six in number, are found at the top and hold six large crystal obelisks. The middle row of arms also six in number are for candles. At the bottom of the globe, the last row of arms protrudes, 18 in number and also those for candles. The chandelier ends at the bottom with a gilded spear from which a faceted solid crystal ball hangs.

The Oscarian era is characterized by a great wealth of imagination and a deliberate stylistic violation of old aesthetic rules, which in the case of this crown leads to a multitude of different prism shapes. Some of the types found are pendulums, octagons, spikes and Wachtel prisms, in addition to this there are also different types of drop prisms. The most spectacular, however, are the six bells all made of glass.

A fantastic chandelier made during that period at the end of the 1800s when Stockholm grew to its breaking point and many of the buildings that still adorn the city were erected. The chandelier bears witness to a time in our history when the bourgeoisie seriously took over political and economic power in Sweden. Objects like this chandelier were created to manifest this prosperity in the same way that similar chandeliers were created in the contemporary belle epoque in France and gilded age in America.

This chandelier has room for 24 living candles and is electrified.
